PR POV: How We Pack For A Weekend Getaway

CLIENTS / THE AGENCY / June 3, 2015

Summer is nearly two weeks away!

As the official start to warm weather and patio season approaches, ‘tis the season to get outside and unleash your wanderlust. Whether you’re planning to jet set to an international destination or road trip a few hours from home, let’s make sure your bag is properly packed with the top fashion essentials for the summer.

TBH, the worst part of any getaway is packing and getting out of the door. The experience can be overwhelming since we do need 10 bathing suits for a two-day trip and no, we’re not sorry. A girl needs options! We’re totally guilty of waiting until the last second to pack and then tossing whatever’s in reach into a dozen different bags yet somehow we always forget our toothbrush. #TheStruggleIsReal

Packing also gets more complicated when you have…

Don’t panic yet! To save you time, here is some outfit inspo for your next weekend getaway:

A cropped crochet top and Boy-Fit Denim Shorts from GUESS are simple and cute; you can throw them on over the Wrap Waist Bikini, also from GUESS. Slip on Adona Jelly T-Strap Sandals and a statement bag and you’re good to go!

The Strapless Embellished Romper from GUESS can be worn out for a fun dinner date or drinks with the girls. Add some fierce fringed heels, some sexy Triumph lingerie (because you never know), a tote and finish the look with sparkly beaded bangle set from ALEX AND ANI and Hillberg & Berk Eden earrings.

We’ve asked the Lotus Leaf team for their tips on packing for a weekend away:

Kathleen – Tightly roll every piece of clothing, it saves sooo much space.

Danielle – When you arrive to your destination remember to unpack right away to fend off creases. Bonus tip: Hang items in the bathroom for shower steam de-wrinkling.

Jessica – Packing dryer sheets inside your suitcase = KEY! They remove static from clothing and make your suitcase smell fresh.

Julia – I always carry-on – who wants to risk not having their bikini when it’s truly needed? And I like to pre-pack my liquids & gels into the plastic bag offered by the airports and then keep it for the next time so that I don’t have to manage switching things over at the security belt.

Shelene – You can use the inside of your shoes to hold nail polish, phone chargers, socks or travel sized hair spray.

Angel – Pack any liquids/cream products in ziplock bags to prevent leakage onto your clothes.

Tejiri – Pack your shoes in hotel shower caps because shoes tend to get dirty. This keeps the rest of your valuables from getting mucky.

Daliah – I’m notorious for over packing for a weekend trip. To try and minimize, I need to visually see everything I pack. Lay out all your outfits, accessories, toiletries, shoes, etc. Seeing it all out Polyvore-style will help you eliminate pieces that you really don’t need to pack for a weekend.

Kirsten – I always ask the person I’m travelling with if they are packing tooth paste, shampoo/conditioner, a hair dryer, etc. those types of items that we can share so that we aren’t both packing them and leaving myself with more space for clothes and shoes.

Andrea – Create a list and refer to it for every trip. I have had the same “packing list” for over a decade. Every so often I find I’m missing something I hadn’t thought of before (large insulated cups for all inclusive hotels) and I just add it to the list. I never have to worry that I’ve forgotten anything!
